Privacy.

1. Scope and who is responsible

This Privacy Policy applies to LVE — Lightweight Video Editor for macOS (the “App”) and this website. “LVE”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Frederick Tubiermont, the independent developer trading under the LVE / Tubiermont name and identified as the seller on LVE’s Mac App Store product page (“Developer”). The Developer is the controller only for personal data, if any, that the Developer actually receives.

This policy does not govern Apple, Pexels, Hugging Face, websites reached through external links, or files and services you choose to use with LVE. Those organisations act under their own terms and privacy policies.

3. Information kept on your Mac

Projects and media

LVE processes files you select or drop into the App, including video, images, audio and project documents. It creates local previews, thumbnails, waveform data, recovery information and exported files as needed to provide editing functions. LVE does not transmit these items to the Developer.

Captions and transcripts

When you generate captions, LVE extracts audio and processes it locally using an optional Whisper model. Generated words, timing, style choices and a local transcript cache remain on the Mac. Speech content is not sent to the Developer or to a remote transcription service.

Portfolio and settings

Portfolio media and its creator/source metadata are stored locally for repeat use. Preferences are stored in the App’s local container or macOS preferences. A Pexels API key you enter is stored in macOS Keychain and is not placed in project files, logs or ordinary preferences.

Because this information is under your control on your device, you manage it through the App, Finder, macOS Keychain and macOS storage settings. Local processing is not “collection” by the Developer.

4. Optional external services

Pexels stock search

Pexels is optional. When you open Stock, enter your own key and run a search, the App sends the search phrase, requested media type, orientation, page and your API key directly to Pexels. Pexels will also receive network information normally associated with an internet request, such as your IP address and request metadata. Results, previews and selected media are returned directly to the App.

The Developer does not proxy, read or retain those requests. Pexels’ handling is governed by its Privacy Policy and Terms. You may stop this processing by removing the key in LVE Settings and avoiding Stock search.

Optional caption-model download

If you choose Download Model, the App requests the approximately 142 MB ggml-base.bin Whisper model from Hugging Face. Hugging Face receives the connection and may process IP address and standard request logs under its Privacy Policy. After download, transcription runs locally. You can cancel the download or remove the model in Settings.

External links

LVE can open creator, Pexels, API and legal pages in your browser. Your browser and the destination site control any data processed after you follow a link.

5. Mac App Store purchases

Apple distributes LVE and processes purchase, licensing, tax, fraud-prevention, refund and download information. The Developer does not receive payment-card details or your Apple Account password. Apple may provide developers with financial reports, aggregated performance information and non-personal receipt information. Apple’s processing is described in App Store & Privacy.

6. This website

This site is static and does not intentionally set cookies, create accounts, run behavioural analytics or serve targeted advertising. The hosting and network providers used to deliver it may temporarily process IP address, user agent, timestamps and security logs to transmit the site, maintain availability and prevent abuse. Their lawful basis is typically legitimate interests in secure delivery. Those providers determine their own retention periods.

If a future version adds analytics, a contact form, newsletter or other collection, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before that feature is enabled.

7. Retention and deletion

• Projects, exports and Portfolio assets: remain where you save them until you delete them.
• Recovery, preview and transcript caches: remain locally until replaced, removed through the App where available, or deleted with the App’s local data.
• Pexels API key: remains in macOS Keychain until you remove it in Settings or Keychain Access.
• Whisper model: remains in local Application Support until you select Remove Model or delete the relevant App data.
• Developer servers: there are no LVE project or account servers, so the Developer has no corresponding project or account record to delete.

Deleting the App may not automatically delete projects and exports you saved elsewhere, or all Keychain items. Remove those separately if desired.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights to be informed, access personal data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent and complain to a supervisory authority. These rights are subject to legal limits.

Because the Developer does not receive an LVE account, project content, captions or API key, we ordinarily cannot identify or retrieve that local information. You can exercise control directly on your Mac. For information a third party holds, contact that party. For any personal data you believe the Developer has received, email [email protected] and describe your request. We may need enough information to verify and respond securely.

UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; EEA users may contact their local data protection authority. California residents may request information required under applicable California law. LVE does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising and does not knowingly use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics.

9. Security

LVE minimises data movement, uses macOS Keychain for the optional Pexels credential and relies on macOS file protections for local material. No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for protecting your Mac, backups, project locations, API account and any media containing confidential or personal information.

10. Children

LVE is a general-purpose creative tool and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age in their country. The Developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children through LVE. Parents and guardians should supervise a child’s use of third-party stock services and any content they edit or publish.

11. International processing

The Developer does not transfer LVE project data to an LVE cloud. If you choose Pexels, Hugging Face, Apple or an external site, that provider may process connection or account information in countries outside your own and use safeguards described in its policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App, website, providers or law changes. The revised version will show a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel, such as this site, release notes or an in-App notice where required.
